WHY “SEMI” SUSTAINABLE?

As a mom, I’m tired of all the single-use plastic waste from parties and holidays… but I don’t want to cancel the fun.

So why SEMI-sustainable instead of fully sustainable or zero-waste?

Think of it like this: if someone has lived on the couch eating donuts their whole life, you wouldn’t expect them to suddenly run a marathon without training and time to progress to that level. That’s how you get burnout, shame, and quitting by Wednesday.

Sustainability can feel the same way.

For families who’ve always celebrated with plastic favors, themed decor, goody bags, and holiday overload… going “fully sustainable” isn’t realistic. It’s overwhelming, all-or-nothing — and all-or-nothing usually leads to nothing.

Semi-sustainable meets people where they are.

Kids still get goody bags (just with better stuff). Parties still look festive (just with less waste). We choose better, not perfect.

And here’s the magic: when lots of people make slightly better choices, companies notice. Better products get made. More sustainable options show up. We quietly normalize a new default, and the end goal of fully sustainable is that much closer.

Semi-sustainable isn’t about being perfect.
It’s about being possible.

Thanks for being here — let’s move the needle together. 💛
